Our Time In Nashville

Tuesday, October 10, 2017

Last week R and I spent a few days in Nashville.  He had business meetings there and when I found out that Eric Church was playing at the Grand Ole Opry, I decided to tag along.  We've been to Nashville before, but didn't have time to really explore.  This time around we were able to squeeze in a few fun outings that made it worth our while.  I loved the city, the music, and everything about it.  So much so that I could live there.

A friend gave us a detailed list of places to shop, eat, listen to music which came in handy since we only had two days to cram in as much as possible.

When we first arrived, we were starving and all we kept thinking about was Nashville Hot Chicken.  We hit up Pepperfire for a quick lunch.  It was so good, unlike any chicken I've ever had!

We checked into the Omni downtown which was in walking distance to the Gulch as well as a few breweries we wanted to check out.  Of course I had to do the tourist thing and get a picture of the beautiful mural by Kelsey Montague.  We popped into two different breweries, Jackalope Brewing Company and Tennessee Brew Works and sampled IPAs.  We had Whiskey Kitchen for dinner which was full of energy and music with open doors and windows.

The next morning R went to meetings.  With best intentions, I put on my workout clothes, went downstairs to Kitchen Notes and found the largest biscuit I've ever laid eyes on.  It was basically a veggie omelette on a biscuit and it was delicious!  I eventually worked out a little later, lol.

For lunch we explored East Nashville and stumbled upon a quaint little place called The Pharmacy.  For anyone from Greensboro, the neighborhood is similar to Lindley Park.  They are famous for their burger, but I opted for chicken this time around.

That night we went to the Opry.  I wore this top which I love, a pair of my favorite jeans, and booties from last year (these are similar).

This was our first time going to the Opry and I already want to go back - next time hopefully during happier times.  With the events from Las Vegas only days old, we knew it would be an emotional night.

The line-up that night was Trace Adkins, Charles Esten, Scotty McCreery, Ashley McBryde, and the one and only Eric Church.  Eric was the opening act at The Route 91 Harvest Festival where the shootings took place.  He spoke for about five minutes about Las Vegas and then sang the song he wrote about it (see it here).  There wasn't a dry eye in the audience.
