The Denim Dress | Three Ways

Wednesday, September 10, 2014

As I've gotten older and with each changing season, I like to add items to my wardrobe that are flexible and give me lots of styling options.  I especially love dresses that can be accessorized to fit the occasion.  One of my favorites is a denim shirt dress. Not only is it comfortable now, but I'll be able to wear it into the fall when the days are cooler by trading sandals for boots and adding outerwear, tights, or a scarf.

I thought it would be fun to show three different outfits all using the denim dress as a base.

I like to think of this as the outfit I'd wear to an outdoor sporting event.  Something I can pull on in a hurry, put my hair in a ponytail, and go.  Pulled together, yet relaxed and comfy and not too fussy. I've been raving about these sneakers since last year.  I walked all over Venice & Rome in them last spring and my feet were always happy.

This outfit would be perfect for a rainy day when you want to add a mood boosting color.  I've always worn green wellies, but really like these Hunter's in coral gloss.  Add a classic plaid scarf and out the door you go.

This outfit is neutral and slightly dressier than the other two.  Think of a shopping day or lunch with the girlfriends.  I have it paired with a cream colored scarf, but it could be cute with something brighter too.
