Client Project: Part 2

Tuesday, December 4, 2012

As promised, here are a few more pictures from the client project I shared with you last week.  I still haven't made it by for a visit, but my sweet client/friend was nice enough to snap a few pictures of her own to share.  If you missed the first post, you can check it out here.

As I mentioned before, this family was gearing up for a Thanksgiving gathering and wanted to make things happen quickly with a focus on the eating areas.  I shared the dining room last week and have one more angle to share today.

I really like this view because you can see the family room and new art selection in the background as well as the new sideboard and mirror.  I recommended another mirror, but like this one just as much.  The fork was chosen by my client.  I think that overall we achieved the look and feel we were going for.  Traditional and nice yet comfortable enough for a young family.

Moving on to the kitchen...

You are looking at the breakfast area in the kitchen.  The family enjoys watching the wildlife through the window.  They wanted window treatments, but didn't want to lose any of the view or natural light from these wonderful windows.  Also on the wish list for this area was a new table & chairs.  Additionally, the wall color was up for grabs.

Here is the mood board I created for the space.  I recommended Sherwin Williams, Sea Salt on the walls.  I adore this color!  The room as it was had lots of warm tones in the kitchen cabinets, yellow walls, and hardwood floors and a cooler color to keep everything in balance .  Please overlook the pieced together panels on the mood board.  Sometimes you work with what you have to create a visual.  In the interest of time we decided to go with another curtain option instead of the ikat panels.  The chairs that I chose are similar in color to the kitchen cabinets and a new wooden table will provide a nice contrast to everything.

Here is an "in progress" shot as the new table & chairs have not been purchased.  I really love the new wall color and the balance it brings to the room!  The curtains aren't hemmed, but you can get the idea of how this room is coming together.

Thanks so much to Shannon for sharing these pictures with us!

  1. Lovely Rene, You picked out the perfect pieces for this young family!

  2. The new wall color looks so pretty! Already I see a huge difference!

  3. Nice!! I love the new wall color in the breakfast area and I think those drapes work nicely too given they were an alternative to your original plan. It's all coming together nicely. I also have that same fork in a smaller size in our kitchen - but I have it hung the other way. Just shows how we all see and admire things differently which I always think is interesting.

  4. This looks great! I LOVE the new wall color, and those curtains are so pretty. I can't wait to see the new table and chairs, too! :-)

  5. I love Sea Salt! One of my favorite are so much like me...I almost always start with those soft Beachy colors....and see how far I get with them :)
I mean even if you had not done anything else in that room...changing the color was key!
