Until then let us look at these wallpapered closets. Wall paper works especially well in a walk-in closet. Mine is actually a walk-by ;) closet, but I'm thinking about adding some paper to the back. I have fallen in love with a couple from Graham & Brown which happens to be on Joss & Main as we speak. Mr. isn't crazy about it, but it is my closet after all.

So tell me, have you been purging too? I'll bet you are way ahead of me. If you have some before & after organizing projects or organizing tips in general, I would love for you to join me January 16.
Organizing is definitely on my mind right now, and there's no better motivation than seeing those gorgeous closets! Beautiful images! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove the wallpaper in closets....Thanks for sharing these wonderful images.....Now off to organizing things.........
ReplyDeleteI'm a big sucker for packaging as well, but wall paper is such a big commitment . . . For me it would have to be something very neutral and timeless. I can't wait to see your closet!
ReplyDeleteJealous--we don't even have any closets!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in the final stages of the restoration of this old place before we moved in, I wallpapered all the closets. It was quicker and easier than painting, and the look is SOOO put together. If you're going to consider doing this, I vote that you do the whole closet instead of just one wall. That way the whole space is full of a pattern that you love (the parts that aren't covered with shelves, or shoes, or clothes, that is.).
ReplyDeleteOne of our plans for 2012 is to do a mini-remodel of our master bedroom. It's in the 1960s addition to this 1840s house of ours, and the closet is torture. I have a plan to steal two feet of floorspace in the bedroom and convert the closet area into two 4 1/2 by 5 foot walk-in closets. They will be wallpapered, of course.
Happy New Year.
Oh yeah! I started. I've got organization and lots of purging on my mind. 3 big bags are on their way to Goodwill this week.
ReplyDeleteI think a little fun on the closet walls is a great plan. Maybe a little stencil that looks like wallpaper?
I've been wanting to put wallpaper in my closet for a year but my husband doesn't think its a good idea because he doesn't want to take it down if we sell. I love the idea of having a glitz and glam type of closet. :)

I love the idea of wallpaper in closets because it gives you the opportunity to do something a little wild and crazy that might not work perfectly in the room. It's like having a conservative blazer that's got a loud pattern on the lining. Just know that lining is hidden inside put a little spring in your step.
ReplyDeleteI think this is going to be a year of purging for me. My basement is a disaster. I have a feeling I'm going to be spending a lot of time down there this winter with ditch, donate and yard sale bins.
GO FOR THE WALLPAPER!
Rene, I love the term "Walk by". Too funny. Those are all gorgeous papers. I would love to do that as well. Might add a little something to the back of my tiny walk by pantry.
ReplyDeleteGreat inspirations! That would be a perfect thing to do in my closet, if I weren't afraid of wallpapering! But maybe i'll give it a try...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback everybody! An Urban Cottage, you were right on with the jacket analogy. I love colorful little surprises inside a purse or bag and a small space like a closet is the prefect space for a little surprise.
ReplyDeleteCourtney, so glad you picked up on the "walk-by" closet :)

A closet would be a fun spot to add a little pizazz! We don't have a lot of pink in our house but I love the first one and also the wild animal print. Today is the first day of purging and organizing for me! I want to simplify this year.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the idea of wild wallpaper in a closet...and even just the one wall as you walk in. It's like the inside of a marc by marc jacobs bag....conservative on the outside, but a loud pattern on the inside. Love it!

What's not to love about fun closets? Especially since most wouldn't take much wallpaper at all. Also a great place to use a stencil and leftover paint!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your closet makeover, Rene. :)
Oh, how I love these images! I'm dying to add wallpaper somewhere in our home! We have "walk by" closets too, so I'm thinking when we finally get our hands on our guest bathroom we can add some jazzing wallpaper in there... if I can convice hubs!
ReplyDeletei'm loving the idea of wallpaper in a closet! especially in a master bedroom or nursery! beautiful images!

I was in Maui last year and the Quicksilver change room had turquoise and chartreuse wallpaper that was FUZZY!! I took a picture I loved it so much! :)

I've got reorganizing and purging on the brain, too! Must be something about restarting the year. And I think the idea of using a bold wallpaper in a small space is genius without going overboard with a print. Can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve, Rene!
ReplyDeleteFor sure purging over here! I make the kids pilfer their closets every year before putting new christmas toys away...we've taken a truck load to goodwill already. And I love those closets! I painted my coat closet pink awhile back and love it. Even though the coats cover most of it! :)
ReplyDeleteSo glam. Love when a closet is not forgotten in the decorating process.
ReplyDeleteI used scrapbook paper to cover one wall in my boy's closet and I really love how it turned out. So much so that I want to redo my own closet and add some wallpaper. It really makes the closet feel more like a dressing room than a closet - I say do it!
ReplyDeleteDearest Rene,
ReplyDeleteDare I say I'll participate? ;)
Camille
Love the second photo - the black/white makes the clothes pop!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Rene!! I love these closets! I am so afraid of mine, I haven't touched it in 14 years. Maybe this year is the year to tackle it. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a wonderful holiday and that your new year is filled with many wonderful surprises.
xoxo
Happy New Year René! Well, mademoiselle, you have inspired me! I am getting ready to re-do our bedroom and I think that my closets are going to get a wallpaper-ing!!
ReplyDeleteGet it together! I love it! I'm all about the organizing.
ReplyDeleteYou are way ahead of me :)......I must....hear me....must....get to the closets!!! Ritalin will be needed.
ReplyDeleteI worked on our closet this evening...looks so much better...but wallpaper would be the finishing touch!
