More Skincare and Wellness Products I've Tried & Love

Thursday, March 8, 2018

About a month ago I added a few new products to my skincare routine.  I wanted to give them time to show results before posting about them.  Many of you ask for more of these posts, so I'm excited to be able to share this with you today.

Before I do though, I wanted to have a little chat about posts on products.  Recently, a friend texted me to ask about razors that I recently shared in a post.  Her question to me was, "You had razors for facial hair on your blog not too long ago.  I'm thinking of using them instead of waxing.  Do you actually use them or was that advertising?"  It immediately occurred to me that if a close friend thought that I would post something just for advertising then, many of you may have the same thought.  I can assure you that if I share a product and my experience with that product here, then I actually use/d said product.  I'm not in the business of making stuff up just to get y'all to make a purchase.  Also, many of the products (clothing, beauty products, decor) contain affiliate links which means that I receive a small commission if you click through and make a purchase.  This has no effect on the price you pay.

Alrighty, how about we move on the good stuff?  Oh, by the way, if you are interested in any of The Ordinary products, you might find this guide to be helpful.

Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% - This water-based serum is a form of vitamin c.  Vitamin c is known to brighten and even skin tone while also reducing fine lines and wrinkles.  I apply it daily after cleansing and toning (I use this toner every day) and after applying this hyaluronic acid serum.  I allow each serum to dry before adding the next step.  It only takes a minute.  Then I apply Cetaphil cream as a moisturizer.  I like it because I can apply it to my face and body, bam!

Granactive Retinoid 5% in Squalane - This product contains a retinol which helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots, and hyperpigmentation.  I apply it at night after cleansing and toning and after applying the vitamin c serum.  This product is oil based so you may not need a moisturizer over it.  I like the way it makes my skin feel without the harshness of a prescription retinol.

Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution - Glycolic acid acts as an exfoliant.  It also contains good things like Tasmanian pepper berry, ginseng, and aloe.  I use this product at night after cleansing and before applying serums.

Maca Powder - Maca is an adaptogen.  Just to give a little info without boring you to tears, adaptogens are grown in extreme conditions and high altitudes.  The survival qualities they developed in order to withstand those conditions are passed onto us.  Maca is rich in antioxidants, enhances mood, energy, and memory, and also balances hormones.  I add a teaspoon to my smoothie each morning.  It has a nutty flavor and smells somewhat sweet, though I don't notice the sweetness in the smoothie.  (See my smoothie recipe here #7)

So now it's your turn.  Do you have any new favorites?
