Patio Updates

Tuesday, May 19, 2015

A while back I mentioned that we were working on a few updates for our patio/deck area.  We've made great progress, but have more to do.  I didn't think you would mind if I share work in progress pictures because it might take all summer to find the final items on my list.  Also, I'm still getting used to the new camera so some of the pictures are good and some look a little blurry to me.  Practice makes perfect, so expect to see more pictures from me!

This is our little oasis.  You'll find us here most evenings unwinding in our comfy chairs.

The chairs arrived a few weeks ago from Birch Lane and we could not be happier with them!  I'm so glad I chose navy and love it against the green in the garden.  The navy and white striped umbrella came from Joss & Main.  I've always wanted a striped umbrella and am so happy with the graphic pattern it adds to our space.  I debated whether or not to add throw pillows, but for now have decided against it.  I would love to add a garden stool to go beside each chair. The table that is between the chairs is temporary until then.  A pouf or ottoman would be a nice addition because we all like to prop our feet at the end of the day.  Look for updates in a post when it happens.

I planted an urn with rosemary, one of my favorite herbs.  The fragrance is lovely and I love having it close by.

A close up of the million bells.

Did you notice the espalier on the fence?  You can read about that here.

  2. So beautiful Rene!! I noticed your fence and I love how you softened it with the vines. I am currently looking into privacy fences - are you happy with yours? Or would you do something different?

    1. Thanks Fran! The fence has been there forever and we like it ok. If/when we have to replace it we might consider a good neighbor fence so that it looks nice from both sides.

  5. Beautiful! I love everything about your outdoor space. You bet I noticed the espalier! Love it.
I have a question about your chairs. In the first two photos of the chairs, they are a dark brown, but in the third photo they look much lighter. Is the darker brown the true color? I really like the blue cushions -- very nautical, and they look great with all the greenery.

    1. Thank you! The first images are a better representation of color. The sun was reflecting off of the arm of the chair on the third image.
