simple is beautiful

Monday Inspiration | Fresh Modern Colonial

Monday, August 25, 2014

Today is the first day of school and there is a perfectly timed touch of fall in the air this morning.  We dropped our oldest son off at ECU last weekend and this morning our youngest started his sophomore year.  Hope you all have a great week!

I came across this image over the weekend and love the overall look and feel of the easy going back porch with its classic and modern details.  I also like the hints of fall which as we all know will be here soon.  Note the different metal finishes - brass, bronze/iron.  I've put together some pieces than can help you capture this same look.

Shop the look:

pillow | throw blanket | pocket lantern | doorbell | wire urn | house numbers | glider bench | mailbox

  1. Love the porch and its simplicity. We actually have a breeze here in SC this morning, think it will be a beach day for me. Love your mood board too!

  2. I really, really wasn't ready for fall to arrive, but now we too are experiencing just a hint of it in the air -- and my trees are just starting to change. Guess I better keep up with the times. Hope your older son got settled into college ok. And love this shop the look. The house numbers and mailbox mixed with the brass doorbell is really pretty.

  3. We haven't experienced fall weather yet - still lots of humidity, but I am looking forward to it. I love the color palette of this home - cream, gray, touches of brass and green. It's the color way I want for my entry! Thanks for the inspiration, Rene. Hope your son enjoys his freshman year!!
