Wood Tile

Wednesday, March 5, 2014

I first noticed porcelain wood tile a few years ago when my mother in law used it in her kitchen renovation. It has since gained popularity and I can see why.  Tile can be used in many places where wood cannot.  Unlike wood, tile can withstand extreme temperature/climate conditions and is a great candidate for connecting an indoor room with an adjoining patio.  I wasn't sure about it at first, but it's really grown on me.  And with so many color and finish options, there is something for everybody.

What about you - have you used wood grain tile in your designs or home renovations?

  1. I absolutely love it! We hardwood floors in every room but the upstairs bathrooms and I would totally put in this wood tile if we ever renovate. I just love it and it looks easy to keep clean :)

  4. That first bathroom is beautiful. When this tile first came out I was not on board, but over the years it has gotten so much better. Many more options than before. I would definitely consider this for a bathroom or our beach house.

  6. I first saw it at the Borgata in Atlantic City and was the weirdo bending over to feel it and figure out if it was wood or tile. Really beautiful, luxurious, and a lot of depth. I don't have it anywhere in my home, but if had the reno money, would probably add it somewhere.

  9. I love the look...used it in my whole downstairs in about 2005 in my previous home. The installers had never seen it before. I'm sure by now it's much more common. It's perfect on a concrete slab where there is a lot of moisture. And so pretty.

    1. It has come a long way hasn't it? So many options now. I used the linen tile in a boys' bath last fall and it turned out so nice!
