Contrast Piping and a Funny Story

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

The other day I was down town having lunch and saw this great chair in the window at Design Archives.  How great is the contrast piping?  Do I dare say that it makes the chair?!

I have a somewhat similar chair that has been in line to be recovered for some time now.  This chair might just be the inspiration I needed.  Painted white, flax linen, coral or blue piping.  Yums.

And now for the funny story...

"didn't do it.  I swear."

If any of you have a Weimaraner, then you know there is always a story.

The other night, Mattie Gray was looking out of the sunroom window while we were saying good-bye to the boys.  Somehow she became tangled in the cord of the Roman shade and managed to pull this chair across the room.  Then another chair joined the pile on.

This is what it looked like by the time she came out of the sunroom as if being chased by a monster.   Crazy dog.  Anyway, my question to you is, wouldn't that chair (the brown one) look great painted white with linen fabric and contrast trim.  Can't you picture it?  Yes you can girl, yes you can ;)

Happy day!

P.S.  Did you check out the giveaway?

  2. Love that chair! Your inspiration chair is great but I think yours would look even better with the painted frame and constrast piping. I love the tufted back. Can't wait to see the finished product. Poor Mattie Gray - that's something I could see one of my goldens doing back in their hey day. I'm giggling at the baby gate and bitter apple in the photo with the torn down shade and chair. Bless her heart!

  3. Storywood, how funny that you noticed the bitter apple! She is quite the barker and sometimes we have to show her the bottle to convince her to stop. Yes, the baby gate suffered from the chair wreck too :)

  8. Great look for your chair; I love contrast piping.

Weimaraner is our favorite breed, although it's been years since we've been able to have one. Our favorite was Harlow the Dog.

  16. Oh yeah I can see it. One of my projects lined up and waiting is a slip cover for my ottoman using a navy linen fabric I have had for years. My design savvy daughter Kelly suggested I add white piping when I do it. Can't wait to see your finished chair.

  17. The piping does make the chair - and you've given me the answer to what was wrong with one I covered a while back - no contrast piping!! Thank you for the inspiration!
