We Buy Gold...

Tuesday, February 7, 2012

It is no secret that I have always loved gold, que Barbara Mandrell singing "I was country when country wasn't cool".  You young people have no idea what I am talking about do you?  Crickets.  There are a few diy projects using gold paint that have me wanting to clear off my schedule for the next day or so and get creative with a can of gold spray paint.

Just look at these fun projects...

Dad made several trays like this and I think adding gold stripes would be the perfect update, by A Daily Something

Gold staples, what?!  This idea by Twig & Thistle - brilliant!

This chair by Brittany Makes makes me want to go to thrift store asap!

Love these gold trimmed business cards by Camille Styles!

We all know Cassie is the rock star of DIY.  She has me wishing we had held on to all those animals I used to trip over back in the day.  Who knew a plastic elephant to be so chic?

Do you have a gold project you would like to share?  Leave a comment.

  3. I have a chair that I started a gold diy on last year-- I need to finish that. I love gold, too. I dig the Valspar gold spray paint, though!

  4. You mean there are actual people who don't know Barbara Mandrell?! I've always loved gold too. I used that same brand of spray paint that Cassie used on the chair in my entry foyer. I also scored a brass trunk I'm using as a coffee table at a local consignment store.

  9. Love the gold staples! I did gold "dipped" furniture legs on that wingback chair I made over here and I have my eye on a gold light fixture at Urban Outfitters. I'm not ready to change out all my ORB hardware, but I am liking small touches of gold throughout my house. Maybe my son won't notice if I grab one of his plastic animals and hit it with some spray paint. ;-) Thanks for sharing.

  11. I'm right there with you!

After seeing Brittany's chair I was wondering what my husband would think of his Grandma's chair in gold leaf! Last week I did an Ikea tray in gold and leopard, and I'm on the hunt for some plastic animals!

  15. This is kind of brilliant...I've done a million little projects with a quart of chalkboard paint since my Advent calendar on Dec. 1st...now I can't wait to get my hands on a can of gold metallic paint. I am loving all of these ideas...from the chair to the staples and gold trimmed business cards...I think I have a gold pen somewhere...

  19. Hi Rene. I've fallen back in love with gold too. Not the shiny brass from the 80's so much, but more the vintagey gold with a wonderful patina. I recently updated my dining room and painted my blah, brown metal chandy with gold and Rub n Buff. I love the way it turned out!
