Before you head out the door, do you ever stand in front of the mirror with two different shoes on wondering which looks best? For about the last week, I have been looking at this image trying to decide which way to go with curtains for the master bedroom. I shared my thoughts with you here and they really haven't changed that much. The only difference is that I really feel the need for curtains.
So here I am with a peacock curtain on one foot and gray on the other. If you recall, I want this to be a tranquil, calm space. I am afraid the peacock curtains, fun as they sound, might be a bit much for me. However, I could be convinced.
This image is pushing me toward charcoal. Good grief, could this be any prettier?
If I go with the gray curtains, I could paint the background of the built-ins a shade of blue.
I'm thinking about a pretty bolster pillow for the window seat.
And a tiny pop of color with one yellow lamp for the dresser.
Now it is your turn. Gray or peacock?
i vote gray!!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely gray. Love where you are going with all your picks for this room.
ReplyDeleteIt's gray for me too, Rene!
ReplyDeleteGray! Beautiful with your other choices!
ReplyDeleteIt's peacock for me. You've gotta love a pop of color especially on a gray day.
ReplyDeletePeacock for me! Love the fabric of the bolster pillow!!
ReplyDeletecharcoal all the way- it's more classic and it feels more like "you".
ReplyDeleteI have to say gray. When I first looked at the image I was drawn to the gray. The material looks more luxurious too, can that be? I do love the blue but the gray is a keeper in my mind. Very calming and very luxe.
ReplyDeleteI like the peacock, but I think that grey is more you. Love that fabric, which is really pushing me towards the peacock. Can't wait to see what you choose.
ReplyDeleteI vote gray! The gray is classic.
ReplyDeleteThank you! You all probably know me better than I do ;)
ReplyDelete-René
I vote for peacock!
ReplyDeleteLove the gray, every sense I painted the kitchen cabinets gray I'm in love with it now that I did the laundry room in a zinc color I'm loving it more..
ReplyDeletePattie
I am always a pop of color kinda girl, so I'm surprised to say that I'm feeling the gray. There's just something tranquil about it that I love!
ReplyDeleteI love color, so I would choose peacock. And I really don't think it's too much! By the way, that yellow lamp is going to sing in that room!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely gray! So versatile if you decide to change from peacock accessories to something else.
ReplyDeleteim loving the gray. and love the pop of yellow with the lamp.
ReplyDeleteLove the gray especially if you add the pops of color in built ins & pillow. You can't go wrong either way :)
ReplyDeleteI love the gray with blue in the built-ins!! Especially with a bit of that gorgeous sunny yellow. Can't wait to see which outfit you choose!
ReplyDeleteLove the gray!
ReplyDeleteI'm having as hard of a time deciding as you are! I love the peacock, but I think I like the SHAPE of the grey ones more.
ReplyDeletePay no attention to the "shape" or "texture" of either. They are just mock-ups.
ReplyDeleteTough call but if I have to choose... go with the gray!
ReplyDeleteTough one! Both would be lovely, but your inspiration shot pushes me to gray. You can have the peacock as the accent color, and then change the accent color down the road if you want without having to change curtains.
ReplyDeleteHowever, either will be fantastic and looking forward to seeing the final result!
I would pick the peacock...love the way it looks with the wall color.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was peacock between the two choices. I love that Dwell fabric that you have chosen for a pillow.
ReplyDeleteI like the Peacock Blue, there is something so calming about the blue,
ReplyDeletei think it's beautiful...
Cindy
Peacock!! But don't listen to me, I paint my powder rooms navy blue! :) I think you should go with your initial gut instinct...it's closest to your true self.
ReplyDeleteI love the grey. I like when curtains carry the color of the walls rather than break up the space into vertical sections. I would also like to see the curtain rods a little longer so the sides of the curtains hang outside the bedposts (as in the photo with the white headboard). Bottom line: you can't go wrong with either color. Jo @ Let's Face the Music
ReplyDeleteI would go with the gray. It seems the most calm and serene to me. Plus, you won me over with that master bedroom image with the charcoal curtains! Wowza! I love the bench fabric idea you have. That can be the pop of color with the lamp, so the gray curtains would strike a nice balance. Exciting!! :)
ReplyDeleteMy vote is peacock....the gray looks good too, but I like the pop of color that the peacock gives!! You can't go wrong with either!
ReplyDeleteOh, René, you can't go wrong with either one...follow your heart and trust your own eye! Your taste is already superb!!!
ReplyDeleteEye went right to Peacock.Sorry
ReplyDeleteI do love the direction you are going in with the grey and that you will bring in the blue in the built-ins..such a great idea!
ReplyDeleteCould you line the curtains? So gray on one side and peacock on the other? Then you can switch at will and have them look beautiful through the windows as well - or if you did a nice tie-back you could showcase the lining as well.
ReplyDeleteIf not: peacock :)
My eye was drawn to the peacock, but maybe you don't want your eye to be drawn there. The gray would be fine.
ReplyDeleteI'm voting for grey! If you do that, you'll get a classic, calm feel and then you can add pops (and change them out!) of color as you're thinking with lamps, pillows, etc. Of course I love the peacock too. It's just what you want to commit too and how you want the room to feel day to day.
ReplyDeleteI'm voting grey. It's just gorgeous ... plus tranquil, neutral and relaxing. I love the idea of *trying on* curtains! :)
ReplyDeleteI have to say the Peacock is simply wonderful and the fabric is great too. What great choices you have. Can't wait to see what you decided.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm so late to the party, but let me say that I DO stand in the mirror evaluating which shoe is better (and stand with one leg up like a flamingo...is that just me?).
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I say go with the charcoal. I think you have more longevity with the charcoal, but can certainly introduce the vibrant colors in pillows and the lamp you selected. Either way, your room will be fab, Rene.

Hi Rene, I like the peacock better, but I think the reason why is that they appear to contrast more rather than blend in, which sort of brings the contrast from the lamp shades to more places in the room. In the inspiration picture, the curtains contrast heavily. Honestly though, I think both look great. You can't go wrong here.

I prefer the gray. If you choose to change the accent color, it would be easier to do with the gray.
ReplyDeleteLove the gray! The blue can be an accent color.
ReplyDeleteThere is just something about a peacock....and with the yellow lamps. Yum!
ReplyDeletePeacock!! Curtains & Pillow.
ReplyDeleteAll the beautious gray is flat to the eye. The peacock will make your bedroom strut!! LOL!!
Rene,
ReplyDeleteI think this is a place where subtle color differences will make a world of difference. I can't figure out if you've repainted your walls in that Frosty White you mentioned in the earlier post but when I cover up the peacock side of the photo, the colors very cold with the silver mirrors and black and white lamp.
The walls in the inspiration photo seem to be more a purple based gray so it feels warmer. I don't mind either but with the accent fabrics that are also really cool toned, a bright lamp might not be enough to warm things up.
I am going to vote gray too - they are just gorgeous. What a great space!
ReplyDeleteOh boy - that's a tough one Rene! I like them both. I definitely love the yellow lamp.
ReplyDeleteI like both options but feel the gray will allow you more versatility in the future. Great post! Glad I found you! You are right about Emily, she is a doll. I live in Charlotte so I have been lucky enough to lunch with her as well!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all....no that room could not be any prettier! And I am going to have to agree with the mass on this one and go with the gray!
