Chic Shutters

Monday, April 4, 2011

Thank you to everyone who left sweet comments on Emily's blog!  I enjoyed reading each and every one of them.  Just to let you know, I have several new items to add the to store, but it will have to wait until after market.  I did however, prepare a couple of posts for while I'm away...

Architectural elements in decor have always been a favorite of mine.  Even with the 90's craze of shabby chic behind us, I still love old shutters.  They look nice leaning against a wall or re-purposed into head boards, doors, and room dividers.  If you ask me, they are way more chic than shabby.

I see old shutters often when cruising the thrift stores.  They usually go for about $10 a piece.
You could easily create a headboard for two twin beds for around $40.

Have you found a new way to use old shutters?

  7. I wish I could bring old shutters into our home, but my husband doesn't understand the word 'patina'. He always says, 'You're going to paint those, right?' -sigh-

  8. I just love that navy room from Lonny. I love the history and story behind old shutters. We have some from a home my grandfather built when he first started building homes. Will use them some day!

  9. I love this post, Rene! I think old shutters are so cool, and I have a pair that I'm trying to figure out what to do with. Never would have thought to make a little table with them, that's clever.

  17. I love the soft beachy blue shutters from Decor Pad. They're so pretty used as a headboard with the white bedding. I also love the blue and white room from Lonny. We haven't used any old shutters in our home. Might have to change that. Hope you're having a good time at market!
