This is So Last Year

Monday, November 29, 2010

This week is off to a very unproductive start and this is not the time of the year to lose momentum.  If you could only see our dining room and the piles of junk sitting everywhere.  We received an early Christmas present that I love -  a Federal sideboard.  Anyway, long story short, moving dishes from one piece of furniture to another in the dining room somehow evolved into cleaning the kitchen cabinets.  It's the old "Give a Mouse a Cookie" routine.  So now we have huge mess and I really want to decorate for Christmas.

  1. Love the spelling info! Who knew?? Love the natural element to the mantle. How fun that you have a new sideboard. That's awesome. Can't wait to see it.

  2. Love your mantel from last year, so simple and pretty. I thought I had a head start on my decorating until tonight, I decided my mantel isn't right...now if I can just figure out how to photograph my tree to do it justice!

  3. i love the natural look of it! and i had no idea mantle coul be spelled both ways but that explains why i always hesitate when i type it... i was an english major and i am a stickler for spelling and grammar. typos are another story.

  4. Yes, I did know mantel/mantle can be spelled two ways. I love the magnolia wreath. Every year I say I am going to go to my mom's and get some magnolia leaves and then I don't. You sound like me cleaning stuff out and making a bigger mess in order to change things around. Can't wait to see you new piece.

  6. My Christmas decor ends up looking the same every year too. :) About the paint in our bedroom - it's Benjamin Moore Bunny Gray.

  7. This is beautiful. I wish we had a magnolia tree. We don't see many in our zone (northeast Missouri), so we never tried growing one.

    Very elegant mantel.

  9. Rene, My house has been a disaster for two days now! Glitter and pine needles everywhere. I love magnolia wreaths and may have to visit my son's house with my clippers.

  10. Hi Rene-
I love the simple touch - looks perfect. I think it is funny about the spelling of mantel/mantle. My huuby kept telling me I was spelling it wrong until I looked it up and found it can be spelled two ways.
    My best- Diane

  11. I like your last year's version. I will look forward to seeing the sideboard too. I keep searching on Craigslist and can't find the exact one I want. I know it's out there though.
