Doggie Love - Reader Mail

Thursday, November 4, 2010

Well, at least I got your attention.

I had an entirely different post planned for today, but when a note from a reader popped into my inbox yesterday, I had to call an immediate "cease publishing".

Before I go forward, I want to thank everyone who reads my blog.  A special thanks to those of you who take the time to leave comments, send emails, and tell me you enjoy reading Cottage and Vine when I see you around town.  It means so much to know that something I do inspires others.

That said, yesterday when one of my readers sent this email with photos, I couldn't wait to share them with you.

Back in September, Ava emailed me asking about the second bed  I made for our dog, Mattie Gray, for Christmas.  As it turns out, after finding my blog, Ava made a couple of beds for her puppy dogs and here is one of them.

I love this room.  Period.  And the fact that the dog bed works with the decor is so stinking cute.

Here is Hatcher on his bed.  I think he likes it.  Could he be any sweeter?  By the way, she found the towels at Ross.  Aren't they great?  Also, Ava is a much better seamstress than I am and she added a zipper closure to the beds making them easier to wash.  The total cost was $14 each.

Just to make this story even better, Ava is an advocate for pet adoption and she adopted these two sweet puppy dogs.  They are so fortunate to have an awesome mom who loves them and makes them pretty beds.

Do you have a project that was inspired by Cottage and Vine?  I would love to share it with everyone.  Email me @ cottageandvine@triad.rr.com

  7. First of all, I never see towels that cute. Second of all, I'm impressed that the dogs also coordinate with the room and their new bedding. THAT'S taking decorating to a new level!

  9. The towel beds are awesome! Did she just use standard pillows as inserts. Cute projects like this give me just the push I need to take out my sewing machine. Thanks for the sponsor shoutout too!

  11. Those are great towels she found to use for the beds. What did she put inside? I am forever buying new bed pillows. They flatten out on me too fast. Anyway, I save the old ones to fluff up Henry's beds. Yes, beds, he has 3. :)

  13. Thanks for the great response to Ava's project everybody! She used a double layer of quilt batting that and stitched the 2 layers together so they wouldn't shift. Now Mattie Gray is jealous and wants a new fluffier bed for Christmas.

  16. Good for Ava for adopting! They look like sweet dogs and bless Ava for giving them a loving home. How clever she made those beds out of towels and what great towels she found to coordinate with her living room! I love those beds and need to consider one for my puppy. Now if only I knew how to sew. See how you inspire people, Rene! What a fun post.

  21. hahahahahaha. You're so funny. I was totally thinking "Does she even know what that means?" I just wish I had a dog to make these for. Somehow, it's not quite the same with a cat. Thanks for visiting me at my blog today! Feel free to visit anytime!
