Chair Update

Thursday, November 11, 2010

The other day I set out to find fabric for the dining room chairs.  I searched and searched.  Every stripe was either too wide, too narrow, too referee, or just not right.  When I asked my favorite lady at 1502 for help, she cut a few swatches for me - not my first choices, but ones to consider.  We then headed to the back to check the sales room, which by the way, I had already spent a good bit of time in this area.  Suddenly, my dream stripe presented itself.  My new best friend, Favorite, had never seen it before and even after many trips up and down the aisle, I had never seen this one before either.  I was thrilled.

Yesterday, I spent most of the day working on the chairs.  The end chairs are finished.  Now I pray that the furniture Gods forgive me because, I'm pretty sure they were nice antiques.  Oh well, hopefully one time won't lead to harsh punishment.  By the way, what do you see when you look at the chair?  A vase or two birds.  Weird, huh?

The boys are out of school today.  We are going to do something fun.  Fun for them usually involves food - ha ha, growing boys...

  6. I hears someone say once that it doesn't matter what something is supposed to look like or supposed to be...if it's in YOUR possession and isn't working for you...it's NOT supposed to look like that or be THAT. Make it yours. Good for you - if YOU like and it works - gods be danged! lol. I see birds by the way - which i think is uber cool. can't wait to see the finished product.

  14. Smiling here at beColorful. I feel your angst at painting over pretty antiques. I did the same thing earlier this week with my small china cupboard. It's like wearing real fur. :) I can't wait to see where you take this. I know it will be tastefully spectacular when you are done.

  18. Oh yeah! It looks like one of those optical illusion posters. I can't wait to see the final reveal! I don't know about you, but I love antique pieces but unfortunately, not a fan of the usual dark wood tones that come with the antique appeal. That's why I don't mind painting over them. Just think, you're giving them a pretty facelift!

p.s. - The striped pattern looks awesome!
p.s.s. - Thanks for the link love!
